ALM Construction & Landscaping Inc. was founded in 2014 by Lindsey and Rob on a single idea: clients deserve to talk to the people building their project. A decade and several hundred hardscape, landscape and interior renovation installs later, that has not changed.

Our story

Built one referral at a time.

ALM started with one truck, one borrowed plate compactor and a backyard patio in Kanata. The neighbour asked who built it. So did the next two houses down the street. Ten years later, the work has expanded into full hardscape installs, complete landscape construction and interior renovations, but the customer-acquisition strategy has not changed. Every job we take comes from someone who saw a previous one.

We say no to about half the projects we are called for. Some are outside our service standards. Some are budgets that would force us to cut corners we will not cut. The ones we take, we finish the way the next neighbour would want their own done.

City of Ottawa Licensed

ALM is a licensed Ottawa hardscape contractor in good standing. As of March 1, 2026, the City of Ottawa requires hardscaping contractors to hold a municipal business licence. We hold ours, ask any contractor to verify theirs before signing a quote.

Lindsey McGarry. Co-Owner and Founder.

Owner / Founder

Lindsey is your first point of contact with ALM. She will come to your home, listen to your hopes for your space and help you design it to be just the way you want it. She and Rob had a vision when they started ALM 10 years ago that they would build a business based on integrity and quality. Lindsey is with you every step of the way to ensure that the end product you receive is more than what you hoped for.

Lindsey is also one of Ottawa's pioneering women owner-operators in hardscape and renovation, a corner of the trades that has historically had few women on either the design or install side. A decade in, she is still on every job site, and actively mentoring other women entering the construction and landscape industries.

Rob is the talent behind all of Lindsey's designs. He spends so much time and attention teaching his team how to ensure every job is the absolute best he can make it. Rob takes so much pride in every home he goes to and does his very best to give his clients the best quality he can offer.

Morgan

Site Supervisor

Morgan is our youngest foreman, who came to us as a high school co-op student. He has been apprenticing with ALM for over seven years now and has big plans for his future in this industry. Morgan combines the wisdom that the younger generation brings with the skill learned from people who have been in the field for decades. His potential is endless.

Andrew

Business Student

Andrew was 2022's summer student, who made life on site funny every day. Andrew is currently apprenticing with Lindsey on the management side of the business and is studying business entrepreneurship when he is not at work.

Charlie

CPO · Chief Procrastination Officer

Charlie is our resident Chief Procrastination Officer, who can often be found holding meetings with our operators when they break too long. He works for treats and takes no attitude from his employees.

Vacuumed daily. Dust barriers indoors. Driveway protected. The standard does not change after the first day.

We pace projects so the finishing is right. Speed records belong to other contractors.
